South Korea: H5N2 In Wild Bird Feces Determined To Be LPAI

Yesterday, in Japan MOE: 2nd H5N6 Lab Confirmation & More Dead Birds Being Tested, I briefly mentioned that South Korea was testing H5N2 samples collected on Jeju Island for pathogenicity. 
Not unexpectedly, the results have come back as low path.
While HPAI H5N2 has been reported in the wild, it is most often LPAI.  Two reports, first the translated announcement from MAFRA, followed by an English language report from Yonhap news.

SEOUL, Nov. 14 (Yonhap) -- The avian influenza (AI) viruses recently detected in Gyeonggi Province and on Jeju Island have been confirmed as low pathogenic strains, the agriculture ministry said Tuesday.

Bird flu viruses were discovered in samples of wild bird droppings collected from a river in Suwon, 46 kilometers south of Seoul, and from the southern resort island of Jeju earlier this month.
